This is my latest cutting board made from Bloodwood, Canarywood and Cherry and finished with Mineral Spirits. Dimensions 8 3/4" x 11 3/4" x 3/4".

I understand Mineral Oil is food safe (taken orally as a laxative, I believe), but not Mineral Spirits. I am curious why you selected that finish?

nice board, hope that you meant mineral oil, otherwise your board is not food safe, but toxic

That's a beauty.
Mineral oil is a petroleum product and when it's used for ingestion, it should be USP.
Mineral oil is also non-polymerizing and requires frequent application and can leave an oily surface. Warming it and adding bees wax will aid in longevity, but still requires maintenance regularly.
I have used both linseed oil and walnut oil.
With linseed oil, use pure oil, not the boiled. The boiled is toxic.
Both of these oils are polymerizing and once a build-up is achieved, it requires much less maintenance. They do often darken the wood slightly and the walnut oil wouldn't be used for anyone with nut allergies.
