I'm not sure what you mean by this...mount it to the lathe?
If so, there are two methods that I can think of off hand.
The first is to mount your blank between centers and then turn it, cutting off the ends and hand sanding the nubs. Not the method I'd prefer.
The second would be to mount your blank in a scrolling chuck with a tail center. Turn it, and then cut from the chuck.
