They both are excellent. The cross-grain is lesser seen, so I guess I'll vote for that one, but both are wonderful.
I agree with Mark, as far as I know, no BOW sellers offer pen blanks in cross cut or diagonal cut so, I have had cross-cut Olive on sale multiples times since 2006, I would assume you have acquired some Olive from Bethlehem and cut it the way you wanted if my assumptions are incorrect, my apologies, I would appreciate the OP thought on this. :)
