This kit was modified to have a true one piece barrel, finial operated, and recessed clip.

Osage Orange with Paduk accents and CA finish.

Does it HAVE to be an ultra??? It LOOKS like you could have made it with any cigar kit (cheaper), or am I missing something internal??

Yes any cigar kit works. The size of the recessing for the clip is actually the same for the 2 clips (I dry fit a standard cigar clip to check).

I went with the ultra becasue I like the clip better, the pattern in the clip echos the "spirals" in the body, and the shape of the clip echos the shape of the barrel.

I like the ultra clip, but I think the rest of the ultra kit is too busy. I wish I could buy just the ultra clip - then I would go kitless for this design.
