New member here from east-central New Hampshire. I have been turning pens for about 3 years now, but I look forward to learning tips and tricks from those with more experience than I. So far I have only turned wood, but I am interested in expanding out to include acrylic and possibly eventually try kitless all-metal.

The rosewood with black hardware was my first ever turning from a pen class at Rockler. The poorly finished Ipe slimline was my first pen on my own. The others are an assortment I have made since for various people, some finished with cyanoacrylate glue and some with friction polish.

Greetings from Nebraska - and welcome to the IAP community. Have you ever traversed the White Mountain National Forest on the Sandwich Notch Road? My shortcut from sightseeing in New Hampshire back to Sandford Maine one very dark and rainy October night. It cut a lot of miles off my trip - and a lot of years off my life before reaching Center Sandwich. Certainly an adventure to remember. - Regards, Dave (egnald)

Welcome to the club from Montana Joshua. Love your handle and would like to know how you came about it. Welcome!
I assume you mean the purpleheart fountain pen? I started out with a vertex magnetic fountain kit and measured the inside dimensions of the completed assembly. I then drilled out the wood to match what the kit would have been. After gluing in the brass tube, I set the bushing in that end and kept the other end in the chuck (no pen mandrel possible). I used a live center to hold the bushing against the blank and turned and finished like normal except for where I needed to part it off. I finished the last quarter inch or so at the pointed end by hand after parting.

Not that handle, your Mohican Orchid pretty unusual. Was just wondering about it.
