I am new to the site, but have been making pens for about four years. I have discovered that the more I learn about woodturning, the less I really know. There is always so much more to learn. I am retired from the US Army, and make pens for fun and/or gifts. My name is Don.

Welcome aboard, Don. There are a few penturners in the Waxhaw Woodturners club who would be happy to help you with anything you might need and to gain insights from your experiences. We meet at the McDowell Arts Center in Matthews on the first Tuesday of each month at 6:30 PM.

Welcome Don to IAP. I've been here 20 years and still learning, but I'm not able to do as much as I would like.

Join in the fun and post some of your work; ask questions, tell us your methods that work for you! For every member here there are at least 3 ways of doing most things! 😁

Don; Knowledge is like a balloon, the inside of the balloon is your knowledge. As you blow into the balloon your knowledge expands. The surface of the balloon is how much you still have to learn and the things you have yet to learn. It is a never ending cycle. The more you know, the more your see how much you don't know.

Welcome to the group from NJ! I second something already said - find a local AAW turning chapter near you and join! We need more penturners in the AAW and you will learn a lot about turning in general through the members.
