My name is John and I live in Hoover Alabama. I am not totally new to pen turning, I guess this could be my return to turning. I began turning pens and pencils about 17 years ago and gave up the craft when my wife and I decided to start a family 15 years ago. Everyone is at the age where they want to do their own thing and that leaves me with a lot of vacant time and lots of tools in the garage.

I recently purchased a Rikon 70-100 lathe from WoodCraft in Pelham, AL and have really enjoyed turning. I am amazed at how the craft has changed in the 15 years and I am looking forward to learning alot from everyone on the board. Maybe I can throw in my .02 cents worth every now and then.

Hope to get to know the local turners in my area.

Happy Turning

hello John,

welcome to the madhouse. If you are free on May 31th we are having a IAP Penturners of Central Alabama meeting. Be glad to have you come hang out with us for a morning of some kind of fun. It will be at the Woodcraft in Pelham.
