My name is John and I live in Hoover Alabama. I am not totally new to pen turning, I guess this could be my return to turning. I began turning pens and pencils about 17 years ago and gave up the craft when my wife and I decided to start a family 15 years ago. Everyone is at the age where they want to do their own thing and that leaves me with a lot of vacant time and lots of tools in the garage.
I recently purchased a Rikon 70-100 lathe from WoodCraft in Pelham, AL and have really enjoyed turning. I am amazed at how the craft has changed in the 15 years and I am looking forward to learning alot from everyone on the board. Maybe I can throw in my .02 cents worth every now and then.
Hope to get to know the local turners in my area.
Happy Turning
