I posted a week or so ago looking for help with the ID of some wood my son bought in Washington state. Everyone from the area new it was Myrtle! I turned this grip and reelseat for my grandson.

Comments welcome.

That's a really nice.... whatever it is. Ok, I give, what is it? One would assume something fishing related, but specifically what and why and how is it put together?

Wow! Very nice grip and reel seat.

I never thought of making a wooden grip for a fly rod. I guess I will have to try it when I make my next fly rod.

What did you use for a finish on it?
