Gary, this is a beautiful thing. I wish I had to skills to make something like this. I was at my sisters this weekend and saw my dads flag still in the zipper pouch and thought to myself that I need to figure out how to build a case for it. Maybe it's time to learn.

Does anyone have plans for a flag case? I am sure the size would be standard across the board.

Edit:
amazing what you can find when you google it.....

Time to practice.

Hi Chris,

The plan you found is pretty good.
There's also a Wood magazine plan linked to the web site for Freedom Flag Cases.
I used a combination of both plans because I didn't have a tenoning jig to make the 22-1/2 degree miter handy.
I used Bruce's inner dimensions for the case I built.

If you have a planer, jointer and table saw with a good cross-cut sled, you should be able to make the case.
If you have questions about making it, feel free to PM.

Just FYI -- there are usually 2 sizes for flag cases. One for a size flag that you use on a flagpole, the other is for a larger, casket flag. You have to size the case accordingly.

I used glass. I made certain the glass can be replaced.
A local glass company cut glass for me.
It costs around $12.00 for two pieces cut out of a square across the diamond.

Chris I'm not sure how far you are from Dallas but fyi at the Market Hall Gun Show there is a huge display of cases for flags to whatever and last I looked they were very reasonable. They are well made and nice looking. I bought one for the flag that was on my dads casket.

Thanks Gary, found it. I am going to see what I can come up with. Do you use glass or Polycarbonate in yours?

Chris, You really need to use conservation glass and line the inside of the case with acid free paper if you don`t bad things happen to the flag.
Here`s one that I have built for a family member. No real plan just my way.
