I rough them out to a triangle with a handle on the bandsaw. The I clamp the wide end in the chuck and put the live center in the handle end. Spin and turn the handle round. After that I take it back to the bandsaw and cut the bevelled faces. Then sand and wipe on mineral oil. I think I got the idea from another site that rhymes with woodturning online.
They hold up pretty well. My wife has been using the first one I made for three years. It doesn't have the sharp edge these do, but it's ok. Another lady I gave one to two years ago swears it's the best thing for creaming butter. I don't put any finish on them, because it wouldn't hold up. A dishwasher will kill one of these real fast.
