Well, I saw the "Very Interesting" thread and was motivated to post these firesteels I turned handles for. One is in camo acrylic with a matching .30-06 cartridge pen. The other is a heartwood/sapwood cocobolo handle. Both have brass tubes lining the lanyard holes. Enjoy!

Those are very nice! Glad to see someone else here into working with those, I love that cocobolo one you did it is one of my favorite woods to use it finishes so nice. I have never done acrylic before, does it turn much different then wood does? Do you sand as you would with regular sand paper or just buff with a plastic polish? Again, great job on those...Tim

I'm using a 3/8" by 4" rod. I didn't bother to check what the Penn State versions are, but I don't care for the design of those. They are mostly magnesium rods with firesteels set into one side. I personally don't care to use magnesium for fires, but that's just me!
