Finishing with polyurethane

I finished this pen with polyurethane. first try with it and I dont think i like it too much. maybe i just dont know how to use it. will keep reading the finishing articles.

Did you lightly sand between coats?

yea, but that isnt the problem, it seems that I get it to thick and it becomes sticky even after drying overnight.

I haven't tried the minwax but with Enduro I have not incountered any problems like that. Is your shop on the cold side? that could do it, I think if you look at the can it should give optimum temps for finishing with it.

What temp. was your shop when you applied it? That can affect curing times, etc.... I've used that product myself, and have had good results with it. You just have to be patient when applying it....almost just "misting" it - several times.

Glen Rose, TX isn't that cold. It was 82 degrees here in north Texas today. How are you applying the finish?

I agree... its a great looking pen. What method dod you use to put it on, Dip... Wipe???

I am a dipper. I dip it and let it dry and dip it again. then buff. That is after sanding up through 2500 grit
