FInally got around to this one.

I got this from BigRob quite a while back. It was interesting to turn, I did make it into a funnel so it now has a walnut foot on it. I still have some cleaning up to do and more finish work. Overall I like it though. Oh yeah, it's about 4" tall.

Cool Kevin. How does Banksia pod turn? Looks really difficult but sure worth it as far as I can tell []

Bankasia turns well but is a real mess to work with. I like to turn it it just seems to go everywhere. Try some I think you will like it.

Yeah its Banksia, and yeah its a mess. There is a fur like stuff that comes off of it and sticks to everthing. But the 'wood' part of it has some neat patterns to it. I had to go through with a dental pick to clean out a lot of the pod holes, they had seeds or remnants left in them.

Well that must be the requisite shape for these. []
I took the easy road and finished it with Deft spray. I think this is going to make a trip back to the lathe though, so it'll have another chance to get fouled up.
