My son went to Italy and visited a couple of historic wineries and can back with some corks and is wanting me to make some pens out of the corks. So, looking for any tips/techniques to work with cork - Appreciate any help!
Thanks John - what do you think about sealing the cork with CA?I've made a few and sanded them down on the lathe with 150 grit more than turning with tools. The corks I had weren't long enough so I stacked them on the tube. I used 5 min epoxy and it was hard to see the seam. Also, they get a little dark or dirty looking with use from being handled but still a cool pen.
Thank you - sandpaper is the plan! Did you seal the cork in any way after making the rods?Use sandpaper. Turning tools will catch and ruin the cork. Built custom fishing rods for seven years.
