I've gotten emails from these people twice. I'm not interested in buying 2000 kits of any one kind. I'm not sure this is PSI's supplier. Berea and CSUSA have their kits made in Taiwan, not China, but PSI might be different. Whatever savings appear to be available will more than likely be eaten up by freight and customs charges. I have now blacklisted them in my email system so I won't have to see these again.

I would have to check on the freight and customs on this(this was my field of endeavor before I "retired").. duties would be nil since China is on the "most favored nation list" so that duty isn't charged on their stuff.. I have a few contact in the customs brokerage fields and probably some idea of the freight costs, but generally agree with you.

Reason I suspect is PSI.. he uses same kit names as PSI... PK-xxxxx etc.

This is indeed the same company that has provided "samples" and that I have mailed out to two(2) IAP members (jtate & exoticwo). They will probably be posting some comments regarding plating/quality in the near future. Upon inspection of the samples they did appear to be PSI-like products.

Even if there aren't any duties, you still end up paying a customs to broker to clear it through customs. You may be right about it being PSI, but they keep doing this, they may end up not being a supplier to PSI, or maybe they're a former supplier. If they are a current supplier, I would take a very dim view of it if I were running PSI.

You are right.. brokers generally charge about $250 plus customs bond (even though there is no duties, you still have to buy a bond) and unless you can control the freight, that will get really expensive, especially from China, as they will use a consolidator who will consolidate to a landing site, the de-van and probably re-consolidate to destination, plus you will have I.T. documentation (In transit) etc, etc, etc.... you can easily add another $1 to $2 to the cost per kit.

I suppose we could advise PSI in case they don't know.. but I suspect they may monitor these forums from time to time.

Might be an opportunity for someone who wants to invest and go into business. I find it interesting that all platings are the same price. I suspected as much and always resent spending up 3X to 4X as much for a Ti kit as a 24K.

I have recently received a shipment from these folks. I ordered some acrylic blanks, and also asked to receive samples of the different kits that they stock. I received about 10 different kits from them, ranging from a set of cigars, to the standard 7mm pen and pencil.

The acrylic blanks were a nice color combination and were well worth the money I had to spend to get them. I received 100 pen blanks in the color that I ordered for .68 each, and I also received 12 other acrylic blanks as samples for other color combinations. All told, I received 112 blanks, and 10 pen samples. Total cost was $68.00 for materials, and $120.00 for shipping. These folks made the ordering process easy and painless. I did a money transfer at my bank(free because of the account I have), and they had the money within 7 days. They shipped the package through an exporter there in China, and arrived at my door step within 3 days of them receiving my payment by DHL. Customs or any other charges were $0.

It depends on who you exchange emails with, but for the most part the English is understandable, and friendly (much better than my Chinese..LOL). I would definitely do this again, and am considering ordering a custom batch of acrylics with colors of my choosing(there is some set up costs for this, but it is not that bad).

Long story short: I had no problems ordering from these folks, they were nice, and the transaction went off with no problems whatsoever. I was expecting a real hassle, but I will tell you this right now, it was easier than some orders I have had with people in the USA!

I have a suspicion that these folks order stuff from another company within China. They are out of stock on some items that I asked about, and they stated they would put in an order to make the items. They probably go to the company that supplies pen kits to companies here in the North American market, because they have stated they have clients throughout North America. I am not sure though that they actually supply the kits to PSI, because I feel like they go though a manufacturer that may supply PSI. The kits that I did receive have the same style, plating quality, and packaging that you would see in a retail market here. I will put the platings and kits through some stress testing and see what I come up with, and I will post the results back on the site.

I think my suspicions are correct on the company. I asked about ordering from this list shown above, and they said it would be a 30 day lead time for getting the products. That makes me almost certain that they place an order with a manufacturer, and then they turn around and sell the product based on orders. Just my suspicion though.

We have a joint venture with a factory in Xiamen, and two in Shanghai, China. I have relationships with several freight companies and customs brokers and get excellent (high volume) rates.

If someone is interested in bringing in a container, I can provide my contacts (and perhaps, my rates), to try to save some money on importing. What kills you is LCL (less than container-load) shipments, which are based on weight and not volume. As long as you ship a full container, the rates are pretty much the same (up to a certain point).

In addition, I visit our factory in Xiamen at least four times a year. I would have no problem visiting this pen factory in Xiamen next time I am there (probably late June/early July), and reporting back to someone who may be interested in importing their products.

I'm not intersted in visiting the factory "just to see" it, nor to report back "to the group." but if there is someone seriously considering importing a large amount of kits from this factory, and would like me to check it out for them, I would be happy to offer my services and my experience dealing with Chinese Factories and importing.
