Has anyone heard anything about the rumor going around on FB that Dayacom is closing its doors in June? I left messages to the person that is stating this to see if he answers. He is selling kits that he has and maybe this is just a sales pitch. I did hear that they are having supply chain problems but nothing about closing. They are too large of a company.

I just got this reply back from the person and here is what he said. This is terrible news. I hope Ed sees this and can comment on this. Maybe he can reach out with his contacts to see how true this is.

John Terefenko Dayacom emailed me a warning letting me they were likely closing in June and then confirmed that they are closing in an email with a friend.

Just got a reply back from Turners Warehouse. They carry a few of their kits. They said it is true and no they will not be getting more kits in from them.

@ed4copies put them out of business with those customizable diamond knurl pens. But seriously, they made some great quality stuff. I wonder if there will be a sell-off of their inventory that we might find available without requiring a bulk order. There were a LOT of kits on the Dayacom site that I never found available for purchase online.

Were any reasons given about this sad news?
I've been waiting (and waiting) for several of my favorite kits to be restocked at US suppliers. It never happened. My suspicion is that no one reordered, so the company abandoned their production.

DAYACOM made good pens. The parts fit like velvet. And they made my very favorite fountains with a JoWo nib. It's a loss for us.

I attended the MATES event in Manassas, VA this weekend and the rumor of Dayacom closing was verified through talking to numerous vendors at the show that deal with them frequently. Most had gotten a notice from them of the shutdown. Seems they will be shuttered in 30 days or less from when they gave the notice.

Thought I might add to this thread. I've been off the site for a few weeks. I've ordered a few times directly from them. Here is the message directly from Dayacom about their closing via email:

"Dayacom established since 1987 and has been worked and designed with unique pen kits, project kits to supply with most woodturners in the world.

It has been changed with a big influence and business declined since Covid-19 and Trump's tariff. Meanwhile, raw materials and gold plating were raised up very high. We found our business were a serious loss for past years.

Mr. Angus Lee has considered to close our business by end of June, 2026.

Our company has no intention of finding a company to take over our business, because we cannot guarantee the quality, and many of our pens are designed and exclusively sold by us. If our employees are willing to take on the business, we will notify you. At the busiest moment, there were nearly 60 members of factories worked to us, but now there are only less than 30 members worked to us for the moment. Some closed and some worked 2~3 days per week."

I'm definitely interested in where the pen kit industry will move for their high end kits.

I always hate hitting the like button on threads like this but it mainly is to say thanks for your reply. It is ashame that we lose such a great company that always had quality kits and highend kits. The one problem was getting them but at times we could find some. The Covid era was a hard period that effected many businesses because of supply problems and it became a factor in many decisions. I know the craft shows I use to do that were around for many years before the Covid thing never came back on line. It was then that I basically dropped out of the craft circuit because I could not find local shows. Throw all the tariff things on top of all that makes it even harder for some companies to stay in business. Supply chain still plays a huge roll. Life goes on as they say.

Thanks for sharing your findings.
