For the custom fp folks, I have a couple of questions. In tapping the section (using a metric tap) for the housing to thread into, I usually use a drill size closest to the tap's diameter minus pitch. I'm able to thread the housing into the section, but often times when pushing in the converter into the nipple of the feed, the housing (along with the feed/tap) dislodges from the section. I have to support the housing/feed assembly on the other end with my other hand to keep this from happening.

I guess my questions are:

1. Has anyone else experienced this? Is this typical with custom sections?
2. is applying a small amt of epoxy on the housing advisable to keep it in place inside the section? I know cleaning/flushing the feeds/nib is important, but not sure if the housing necessarily has to be removed from the section for cleaning.

Which brand and size are you using? which Drill bit and what tap. I dont believe its supposed to do that.

With #5 Bock nib and 6.4 x .6 tap, I use 13/64 drill bit. Initially, I used 7/32 drill bit and then went down to 13/64 to see if this would help.

An "A" /15/64 "B" or even a "C" drill bit will work. Thoughts of what could be wrong are "wobble" while drilling. stripping out the hole since its two small. Threads are two far back and your just barely catching them with the housing.

There is a conversion chart in the library that shows the different drill sizes including metric so you can compare what your trying to do.

Thanks Mike. I'll try your advice of actually using a bigger (15/64) drill bit than what I had been using. I just thought by going with a smaller hole (from 7/32 to 13/64) this would result in a tighter fit.
