Craft Supplies Scratch Freee

Yes, I spelled that correctly.

I have been a long time user of Craft Supplies Dr Kirk Scratch Free and have a couple of questions for everyone.

Craft Supplies has recently rebranded the product and it's now called Old Mill Finish Co Scratch Freee Woodturners Polishing Wax and they have a second product that's called Old Mill Finish Co Scratch Freee Ultra Fine Woodturners Polishing Wax. Reading through the information on the site the two formulations seem to be close to what the two formulations from Yorkshire Grit are supposed to do.

They do say that it's food safe which is interesting.

My real question (s) is this. I've used the old original Dr Kirk's Scratch Free as a sanding sealer because that's one of the uses for the product they used to highlight. Can I use the Old Mill Finish Polishing Wax as a sanding sealer?

Any thoughts?

So, sadly Kirk DeHeer (Dr. Kirk) and Craft Supplies have apparently had a falling out. After many, many years of working for Craft Supplies, his employment apparently was deemed no longer needed for some reason. No more Kirk DeHeer on Craft Supplies site nor any Dr. Kirk products - which I also used a lot since they were really good quality.

Kirk now runs a company called A Cut Above Bowl Company Website . Kirk is an exceptional turner who I have had the pleasure of learning and turning with over the years. I am sure there is more to this story. Craft Supplies still shows the videos on turning staring Kirk, but he is no longer listed as an instructor at the Dale Nish School, nor listed anywhere on the firm's website.

Knowing what happened to Kirk, I have chosen to not buy the substitute products, nor most anything from Craft Supplies - but this is my own personal decision and should be considered as such.

A good alternative is the EEE polishes made in Australia and carried by Penn State Industries, Barry Gross or numerous others. EEE is offered in normal and extra fine, comparable to the Dr. Kirk products.
