I have a customer who would like me to make him a mechanical pencil that has a "Cow Print" on the body. I am using a pentel mechanism and will be keeping the blank large diameter, as the customer has difficulty gripping a thin pen/pencil.

I think a 3/4" x 3/4" x 5" blank would be fine. I just don't see any with cow prints available.

I have attached a couple examples of cow prints from a google image search.

If you know of anywhere I can get a blank with this type of pattern, I would appreciate if you could point me in that direction.

Thanks!

I have this if it will work. 9 inches long
Cebloplast from The 1849 Mazzucchelli Company

Sensitive to heat. Drill slowly and use a spray of water to keep cool.
Do a good turn daily!

That's a great blank Don! I have made pens with Ceboplast before - it's great old resin. I appreciate your reply, but it looks like I won't be needing the cow pattern after all.

I tried casting a "cow" blank last weekend - I carefully poured black dollops into white resin in a mold - unfortunately, I think I poured too soon (at too low of temperature) and did not get very good color separation. A photo is below. I showed the photo to my customer, and he thinks it's nicer than a cow blank, so now he wants me to make his pencil with this blank.

Just out of curiosity, what would you be asking for the Ceboplast blank? I might take it off your hands for a future pen.

Thanks again,
Kevin

Kevin,
According to my records the blank was purchased from the discontinued bin at Craft Supplies for $2.00...a 14" blank. I will gift it to you along with another ceboplast pattern I have. PM me your mailing address.
