I'm making the jump from a wood lathe to a metal lathe - got a South Bend 9C coming this weekend - and I'm planning ahead to the tooling I need to buy. Making 3 piece fountain pens.

I'm used to using a Beall-style ER32 collect chuck on my wood lathe. Looks like I can get an adapter and chuck for using the same collets with the SB9. Is that normal procedure, or do folks usually just run 3 and 4 jaw chucks? Is there another workholding method I should look at instead?

(Also speccing out a quick change tool post and corresponding indexable carbide cutters for first purchases).

Thanks!
