I see a lot of questions about making clips, so I figured I would document one of my methods while making a clip today. This method works well when I am not starting from uniform sheet or wire. Since it was so picture heavy, I threw everything in a PDF.

Hey John. Great tutorial. I have always loved the clips on your pens. Thank you very much for sharing your knowledge!

Very informative write up, John - thanks!

Curious about the very first step - you have the piece of argentium on a charcoal block and hit it with a flame. Doesn't that set fire to the charcoal? Is there a reason to use charcoal rather than one of those magnesia soldering blocks?

No clue! Never used one of those soldering blocks before.
