Since I am finally back in the shop my wonderful wife wants me to make some pens as Christmas gifts for her co workers. She works in a fast paced veterinary clinic and to give them a click pen. Do any of you have suggestions on a good click pen kit that won't break the bank? I am looking for 35 of them.

35? That's a big clinic. Fast-paced means there is not enough time to pawse to twist a pen. Not familiar with click pen kits. Sitting in the dugout and watching.

Tempest from Beaufort Ink in England. Turners Warehouse sell them in the US.

Luxor from William Wood-Write here in Canada is nice. It has a Schmidt click mechanism. There are a number of other kits using the same mechanism sold by various companies that will all be decent. You'll have to see if the prices are what you can stand.

Note: Marla makes blanks for some of theses sellers

I really like the Blade by Berea. Exotic Blanks is selling for $16.95 or if you buy in quantity, you get down around $14ish. It's a single tube pen that shows off the blank really well.

Phil Dart from Beaufort Ink has never had a single complaint from his customers about the Tempest.
It is the only clicker that I would purchase.

How about the Saxa from PSI? I've found that ladies, and some men, prefer a slim pen. It has a single barrel and Schmidt click mechanism. It takes a 7mm drill bit and slimline 7mm bushings. I've made several of them.

If you want something less expensive, there is the Gear click pen from Crooked Mill. It's a little bigger, it takes an 8mm drill bit, but still slimmer than some. At 25+, they're only $4.50 per kit. I prefer single body pens, especially for this many. You'd only have to turn 25 bodies, vs. 50. It has the old two piece click mechanism, but I haven't had any problems with them. I've made a few.

I am not a fan of the Groove Clicks. I used to use them as my slim click pen. The mechanism isn't the best and they are a PIA to assemble. I switched to the Slimline Pro EDC. Better mechanism and no crazy hoops to jump through to assemble. It is a change from a 7mm to an 8mm tube tube.
