FastCap (fastcap.com). They sell their 2P-10 CA glue line. Very high quality for glue-ups and finishing. Excellent customer service. Free shipping over $100.00 I am in the process of negotiating with them for a "survey batch" to give some IAP members a chance to try 2P-10 and comment on how good it really is. They also sell great powdered dye for the CA and it works great, too!

2P10 appears to be an epoxy, not a CA.

Compare products and prices carefully to be sure they are actually the "same".

It's not epoxy, at least not like we normally use. It does appear to be more like CA in that there is a thin , medium, thick, and a gel. It says you spray the activator, then the 2p10 bonds in 10 seconds. I could not find anywhere that said that you could use it without the activator. I also didn't find anywhere that said the word Cyanoacrylate.

I agree that people should compare the products carefully. I think unless someone knows for sure, then a few questions need to be asked.

I use it all the time. You do not need to use the activator unless you want the 10 second cure time (or faster!) I've got a bottle here in my hands and it does say "Contains Cyanoacrylate" Call FastCap for more technical info at 888-443-3748.

It also says "ground shipping only", which means no US Postal service. We face the same problem with our accelerators, but not the CA glue itself. UPS is slower and costs more than USPS. This will certainly effect your true cost.

Check Star Bond. $30.00 for 16oz bottle. Which include several bottles to pore the CA into lbus a package of extra tips.

I buy quite a bit from Amazon.com. Discount epoxy on Amazon has large bottles in the low $30's. Find where you can combine shipping costs or use coupons for shipping, and it's a great deal.

2P10 is a great CA glue. I have used it for years, great for the BLO finish. But it appears Woodcraft has stopped carrying it and I have not found it. Thanks for the site update. I have not found another CA that worked as good for the BLO!

Does it cure as quickly as it claims to? Does it yellow? I wonder why many more don't use it Thanks for your reply.

I think many people use the 5 minute epoxy...especially for gluing tubes in place. After some research and trial and error, that's what I started doing. I have had no tube slipping issues and the little extra work time is nice.

To the OP, I started buying CA from Exotic Blanks beginning with my last order. Their prices are the best for StickFast (my brand of choice).

I've watched this thread since the OP and if Jeff wants to remove my post I understand because I'm not trying to cause a crap storm.I don't understand y'all . We have members here that are great vendors, with great prices and excellent shipping. No names mentioned and I'm not affiliated in any way other than being a very satisfied customer. Give our member/vendors a chance because I promise you they will take care of you in a much more personal, friendly level than almost anyone else.
I hope I haven't made anyone mad but since I use our vendors exclusively for EVERYTHING I need, and I use a very wide range of products, doing shows like I do. The only exception is when I need an item they don't carry. ( Ordered some full size Statesmen last week).
Love you guys and hope I made no-one mad.
Mike

I must be missing something... I don't see a c _ _ p storm. Please forgive me if I have contributed in any way. I will unsubscribe. Where do the moderators suggest such questions be posted? I also buy 90% of everything from IAP vendors. Have a great one!

Well excuse me. I haven't had to buy any ca for 10 years so, for that reason I turned to members on this site to point me in the right direction. What I don't need is someone telling me where I should buy or who I should buy from.

I've been using 2P-10 for a couple of years for my other woodworkikng and, to me, it's just CA glue but I'm unsophisticated when it comes to understanding the subtle differences between CA product. I promise to pay more attention from now on

I use the 2P-10 activator as well. I do know that I must be careful with not spraying too much too fast or it will boil and create a foamy expansion like an unsightly growth. If I use a very light spray to start, it will harden on the surface creating a "skin" while the glue below remains liquid. This shouldn't be a problem for pen turning as any defect would be comparatively small to the knotholes I fill.

I use CA to stabilize punky knots as well. These knots absorb CA like a sponge and the CA will lock loose knots to keep them where they belong. Again, not sure how this would hold up under turning stresses on the lathe.

I recently stabilized an ambrosia maple beetle hole with loose pieces (beetle excrement) in the tunnel and was able to turn it without anything chipping away. (Not sure who would want that pen clipped to their shirt pocket though

Mick, no storm here. If you have a favorite vendor and brand, name them. That is what the OP asked for. I personnally use EZ bond from Exotic Blanks, but it is never bad to have options. CA is very finicky and the brand that works for me may not work for someone else. For instance, I have had issues with Hot Stuff and Stik Fast so I no longer use them. Other people swear by them. Put all the options out there and let people make a choice. While it is great to support our local guys, it is not a requirement. On the flip side, if a lot of people start using something, like the 2P-10 mentioned, maybe one of the IAP vendors will pick it up.

I'm with Tom. I never thought I would be starting something when asked which CA glue I'd recommend! I guess what CA glue someone likes is getting to be a subject like politics or religion or music!

Guys, I owe everyone involved in this thread an apology. Looking back I did come off somewhat harsh. I'm just very supportive of our vendors. In all honesty I didn't have a dog in this fight and it wasn't necessary for me to post in the thread.
Once again I apologize for offending anyone and hope this doesn't cause me to have to wear the foot in mouth hat for too long.
Mike
