Hi Folks,

I just recently purchased two boxes of Elk antler's.

The thread stated that the person was cleaning out his shop and had 2 boxes of elk antlers.

And that is just what they were, pieces of antlers cut no more than 1/2" thick, and the full thicker pieces were appr. 3/4" dia, the problem being, they where less than 2" long...........

So, beware of what you are purchasing.....ask questions......
The individual stated that he had a tape measure showing how long the pieces were, but he failed to tell you how thick they were.......

This is the 2nd time I cot bunt on this site, there will not be a third......

I did have contact via phone, and he stated that the pieces are basically used for casting......Do you think that should have been stated in the thread

If I see a post on a "pen forum" for a piece of product, wouldn't you think that it would be a usable piece to at least make a pen,

The moral of the story is make sure you know what you are buying, before you buy it.....

Thanks for the ear....needed to vent:mad:

Gimpy Beware!!!

It is not the sellers fault if the buyer does not look at the pictures posted. The Buyer received 10 lbs of Elk and expected all of them to be usable for Pen making, obviously he has never looked at the price of antler per lb. Woodturners catalog is selling a 3/4" diameter piece x 2 3/4" long for $5.50. They were flat pieces, but 1/2 of the box were pieces at least 3/4" and at least 2" long. When I told him that I would refund the money as long as he sent me the box back he said that as long as I refunded 1/2 the money that he would keep it.

I have been on the IAP board for a few years now and have sold and bought many things and have never had any issues. He mentions that he has been burnt twice. I think it is the other way around, maybe he has burnt the seller twice. I refunded 1/2 his money back after our conversation on the phone, not because I had too just for customer satisfaction. He failed to mention that. So you make your judgement on this.

I will not be responding to this issue on the site after this, so, anyone wanting photo's please pm me me, I did ask this gentlmen if he would sell these on his website and he stated NO....you make the call..........

BOHICA ==Bend over, he it comes again !!!!

If you look at his website - he does not sell any blanks on it.

and to be honest, I've never seen Ramon post a picture of an antler pen, or have any completed antler pens in his collection of pens when we've met at IAP gatherings.

I never said anything about selling them on my website, I do not sell blanks or any other stuff that is not completed pens on my website.

true, I can't keep them in stock to show them off. :)

you may want to visit his site again, the first two photo's are of antlers

I probably should stay out and I usually avoid these discussions but I am bored right now.

If the above is true. Why is this an issue? You both came to an agreement and the problem was solved. If the agreement was not acceptable then negotiations should have continued.

Kind of like a government shut down. All disagreements should be able to be negotiated. :)

I did not intend for this to be a bash, PLEASE LOCK THE POST..........

Just an awareness for buyers......Discussion is over !!

i thought the pictures looked pretty clear as to the product being sold. Some of the pieces are clearly not big enough to make into pens and some are. For the price you paid, you got a really good deal. If you were expecting top quality, you would have paid way more for it.

I agree!

Some are too small for pens? Be creative!! Magnets? Key chains? etc....

It seems weird that you would have started this thread EVEN though the seller refunded half your money. THAT should have been the end of it.. NOT to further trash him in a thread.

After you paying 1/2 price for them, and still complaining.. Its more like "IAP SELLER BEWARE" ----from selling stuff to you :frown:
