Broken mechanism on Fireman pen

Has anyone else had a Berea Fireman lever click quit working? Had this one returned because the ink will not stay out, only slightly comes out but will not stay. When lifting the axe up there is no "click".
Emailed Berea and got a response that said no individual parts were available.
From what I can tell, there is no way to access the mechanism to attempt a repair. Any help or suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

A few years ago I bought some through Woodcraft. There were 5 kits that did the same thing. If I used my hand to press the refill into the cap it worked fine but when it was put together it wouldn't click and stay extended. Nothing was said they just replaced the kits.

Hate hearing this. I have a few of these pens out there too. Not gotten returns or complaints at least so far. I liked this kit alot when it first came out.
