Absolutely, it's in Texas A&M website list of Trees of Texas! Back to the list.

We do have a lot of it on the farm, and fortunately I'm not allergic to it, so I rarely have any kind of reaction from cutting or pulling it. I've never had anything more than a few small bumps & some slight itching for a day or two. Some people break out in a severe rash and experience severe swelling just from being in the vicinity of poison ivy, without ever even handling it.

A large poison ivy vine does look interesting, but I doubt if I would ever try to make a pen from it and I would certainly never put any on the sander. :)

Well, I'm out of guesses. Since my in laws are from Texas and this is their favorite plant, I'll make one last shot in the dark. Don't know if the vine can get that thick but I know it can grow up to 30 meters long... American Wisteria.
