Very nice, Brad - great job getting a uniform satin finish on the barrel.

What type of stainless did you use? It comes in so many different alloys and variants of hardness!

Thanks Duncan.
It all has a gloss finish, my diffused lighting does a good job of making it look like a matte finish.

The stainless I use comes from old hose clamps, the thicker stuff I used on this one came from a clamp over 2 feet in diameter, I save a couple from going into the rubbish bin at work now and then. So I don't know what grade it is, but it's the right price so that's why I use it.

Well then, "great job on getting a uniform gloss finish" :D

A hose clamp that size will save you having to buy metal for clips for a while!

I like your work, Brad !! . :)

I will have to try making a clip the way you do from a large size hose clamp band.

Cheers Mal.
I use a angle grinder with a 1mm cutoff disc to do the cutting out, a smooth file and sandpaper to refine the shape.
The stainless is not the easiest stuff to work with, but it's tough and holds its shape, and it's cheap.
