Went with the Ridgid Table Saw and built my first sled.used a borrowed dial indicater to square it. MAN it is so nice to use. Since the garage got broke into wife is really into going to Home Depot with me... so much she sprung for another orange thing. I need to rebuild my turning tools and accessories. To bad the box stores don"t sell turning stuff.

FYI Call around to your Local Home Depot the one in Dothan Ala clearanced these table saws out for $404.00 not all stores are doing it but worth looking into if your in the market

Sherman; The sled looks nice. I would make only a few mods to the sled.

1. Add a block of wood to the fence over the slot in the fence. The spinning saw blade comes out of that slot and can get in the way of your fingers.

2. Along the same lines, add two cheap door handles horizontally to the fence at both ends of the fence. This encourages you as to where to put your hands and fingers while pushing the sled!

Am I the only one freaked out by Kragax avatar? Sorry to go off topic but I had to say it. Oh well, its mother loves it.

Somebody broke into your garage? That is one of my biggest fears. What happened?

Well they took most all the little stuff, kits, tools, chucks, cleared most of my peg board stuff off. all the new drawers got hit as well. Garage door was opened somehow now my garage door is on alarm system as well. one of the largest collection of sand paper east of the mississippi river gone also... sorta a fetish I had.

Back to the sled I did place a block on the rear and will add the handles,
Ok do you guys build differant sleds for dado work? Just wondering.
I am preparing for my pen display case build got a few ideas I want to try.

There is a quick video that shows how a thief can push a rod in above the top of a garage door and unlatch the automatic opener.(Same thing you can do inside with the pull cord that always hangs down in case there is a power outage or malfunction of the opener.) Once unlatched, the door can easily be pulled open...Bye-bye YOUR STUFF!!:mad::bad::bad::bad:

You need to lock the door by some other means to immobilize it to defeat the bad guys. Maybe there is a techno-fix out since this is such a security weak link for so many people.

Sherman that stinks on the theft! I just built a similar sled two weekends ago and did a simple miter sled too. Really fun projects. Glad the theft wasn't worse, you'll be back in the sandpaper in no time!

Steve most garage doors have a little sliding bar that goes in a slot through the track on the side that keeps it from going up. My locksmith showed me how easy it is to get into a house through the garage. Even scarier is a French door even when deadbolted. Scary stuff.

Must have been someone that knew what you had. Why would your average burglar steal pen kits? Tools I can see, but pen kits.

I have the older 4511 with the granite top. Motor is maybe a tad underpowered but a nice thin kerf blade seems to help out with that. Only real issue I've had is the blade height adjustment bracket wore out just enough to drop the blade. In the future I'd make certain to lube that part more frequently.

They just took all they could mainly tools. I had 2 empty totes from storage we are figuring they just filled those nutting large was taking.
But life goes on and insurance rates go up!:frown:
