I like the shape of the second one. I think the Sierra/Wall street style look better when the body follows the line of the front section giving it a bit more width.
When I first started I bought the extra tubes for the WSII and used one kit to go through the pen making process 8-10 times. This kept my costs down while learning those crappy lessons, cracking a blank during drilling, blow outs on the lathe, fit/finish issues. Then disassemble the pen and repeat.
When I ran out of those 5 tubes I turned a few of the bad ones down to the brass and started over. I spent about $12 and went through the process 8-10 times. The pen kit didn't survive unscathed, but still writes and is sitting on my workbench.
