I am wanting to purchase an er32 metric set of collets. 800watt aka now AMTools.com seemed to be the seller of choice of a number of members on IAP.

Their site is down and has been for a number of weeks. I'm looking for an alternate supplier whose price is as reasonable as 800watts (AMTools.com).
Advice requested and appreciated!

I buy everything in metric too, but as collets are 'variable' whether they are metric, imperial or whatever, it shouldn't make a difference should it?

I just took a pic of my ER32 set and they are marked in mm and fraction. :wink:

800watt used to sell on EBay. Not sure if he still does or not.

As I remember from previous conversations about this issue, these collets have a gripping range of about 1/16th of an inch. Therefore, the available sets of metric collets have no gaps, but the imperial ones did have a couple gaps.

Mack the ER series collets were developed for the machine industry and are the same no matter what the end use. The difference is in the quality and source of manufacture. They all fit in any of the myriad of holders used in industry including the collet chucks for our lathes.

I understand that. I just want 800watts. I like the case that they came in. You know the one!
 
I've always wondered why none of the sets you see of ER32 collets include 25/32 and 13/16. The stand someone posted in the link above doesn't have those either.
 
I highly recommend getting a 13/16" collet if you use PR blanks cast in PVC. 3/4" Schedule 40 PVC has an ID slightly larger than a 20mm collet. So you need the 13/16" collet for those blanks. Of course you can turn them down to fit a 20mm collet.
