First turning on my new 18 x 47 " lathe I got two days ago . Wanted to get the feel of doing something bigger than what I was used to on my mini lathe so I made this plain and simple 16" platter and put it on a short pedestal.

Lots of fun and I am real pleased with the way the big powerful lathe just played with this size of a turning.

William, nice platter, is it all one piece or is the pedestal glued or dowelled?
I turned a 2 3/8" recess in the bottom on the platter and using my dial calipers turned a tenon on the top of the pedestal the same diameter for a nice snug fit and glued it in.
