My solution? Move to the beach - where all we have is LOTS of sand and gravel!! No weeds....no trees!

I'm still amazed at the number of people who don't see this advantage and take extraordinary efforts to plant grass - ah well.....

Enjoying mowing starts with a nice tractor....IMHO...I have a D160....I see you have a similar tractor....I am pretty sure my deck was not that clean when it was new tho..

I just bought an older JD 210 with a snowblower, heater and cab....it is in really good shape...an older guy had and just blew snow with it. It never even had a deck...so it was used only 5 or 6 times a year. Kept in in his pole barn and only did his paved portion of his farm.
kind of looking forward to snow for once...

Moke we've had our D160 for 9 years and cut about 5 acres with it. It has 482 hours on it and I expect to cut once more next week before putting it to bed. I use a Mahindra tractor with bucket to clear our driveway. El Nino is supposed to bring us a warmer winter with less snow We'll see) so you might not get as much time on your new toy as you want.

Curly - The tractor was my FIL's....who never took care of anything in his life. When I got it I had to take a full garbage can of sticks, leaves and crap out of the deck and engine compartment...it had never had its oil changed, or was lubed ever. But it only had 125 hours on it. Between me and the JD dealer and about a year I got it running flawlessly.
I never take a lot of stock in the weather folks predictions.....I used to laugh in the Global Warming/sky is falling crowd, that whole phenomenon was based on 100 year predictions....they rarely get tomorrow right. Plus, I found an old Popular Science of my Dads that was only about 20 year old talking about the mini ice age coming. However, I would be not offended if I did not get to blow any snow this year at all, tho. Buying this new toy just may seal the deal.
Do you JD guys know how this numbering/lettering thing went....what came after the D series...where does the L series fit in.

Nope, not a clue as to where the models fit in their lineup. JD salesmen should know but asking one might turn into a "trade in yours and we will give you a great price on the latest and greatest".
