The top is a 308 caliber casing and the bottom is a 30-06 casing, it's a really nice twist pen.

nice looking pen. Single "brass Casing" pens seem to be more popular but the doubles do show up here every now and then. Yours is nice and 308 seems to be a favorite of these. Here's another thread on them with others posted in the comments with some explanation…

Does any pen kit seller make a kit for an AR 15 .223 bullet? Many, many vets and turners would love to buy the kit. The pens would be a great seller.

308 caliber for the top and a 30-06 for the bottom, the total length is around 5 1/2".

The pen kit is a PSI Slimline, I drilled the primer end out to 7mm. I used a longer 7mm tube for the 30-06 casing and pushed to pen transmission in a little farther, the pen looks great and operates really smoothly.

I started drilling the primer out but switched over to a cheap reloading press to knock the primers out with. Made drilling the primer hole out much faster. I quit using a 7mm drill bit & started drilling primer end out with a 9/64 bit. This seemed to allow the slim line transmission to slide in the 7mm tube a little easier. For me it seemed like the slimline transmission would sometimes want to bind up when trying to press it in when primer end was drilled out with a 7mm bit. These type of pens are a good seller!

I did remove the primers before drilling, I didn't seem to have any problems using the 7mm drill bit.

What size shell casings do you use? The tubes that came with the slimline kit was the right length for the 308 casing but was to short for the 30-06 casing, I had to cut a new 7mm tube a little longer for the 30-06, then I had to press the pen transmission in a little farther than normal, but everything worked great when it was done.

I could have used two 308 casings and not have to do anything to the tubes but I thought it looked better with the lower part of the pen being longer than the top part, what size shell casing do you use?

I've used .308, 30-06, 270, 7mm, & 30-30. .308 are the main ones that I use. I had the occasional problem when drilling with the 7mm bit. Some of the transmissions would be nearly impossible to press in. Damaged some of them trying to press them in. Might just have got a bad run of transmissions though.
I mostly do .308 back to back. But I have done 30-06 back to back with .308s. It is fun to experiment with different shell casings.
All .308's.The two black ones were powder coated.
