I don't remember the full discussion but it was the reason that Monty gave. I was under the impression that the next one would be the 25th anniversary, which would be 2029, but I am not sure. While it is listed as "Beginning" in 2004, There are two members that joined in Dec. 2003 -

To me I think boredom set in. The participation was way down. The people voting way down. The upbeat presence of a contest was not there any more. We lost the prize packages and basically were all blanks. There were no more swag being sold. It was at that time people believe that maybe a once every 5 or 10 year party maybe the thing to do. The thing of having 2 events per year to me was way over the top. That may have added to the bordem. Just my opinion. Plus factor in the change over in membership.

We used to have tons of non-blank prizes back in the day, but the amount of time and effort it took for me to get those donations is time that I just don't have lately. I think that's a theme across the board, unfortunately.

I understand all the reasons why because I have been here a long time and watch the Bash party evolve over the years. The contests we had when we first started would not go over well these days. Back in the beginning there were characters on the site and sometimes it played very well but others there were hard times. Jeff cleaned things up and has run very well. It takes time and much behind the scenes work which does not get appreciated as well. This is why I say participation is needed to sort of pay back the workers. Plus I think the large reason for less prizes is the amount of Pen symposiums and demonstartions and to keep going back to all the dealers asking for prizes is not easy on them. It is a cost to them. Life gets in the way for all of us. Volunteers are always needed in many forms. You do not see Bash partys on any other sites. Maybe a contest or 2 of some sort but this was a tradition. there are many reason why it has moved on and that is for others to ponder also. I just gave a few reasons that I saw because I have been here a long time. Many new members have no idea what it was like back in the day.

With that being said it probably would be nice to have maybe anniversary type Bashes of some kind.
