This I find hilarious. To many years ago my mom would make chicken and sometimes she bought shake and bake seasoning mix. You put the chicken and seasoning in the included plastic bag, shake it up and bake it, hence the name "Shake and Bake". Well we bought some last week and made it tonight. Per the box, to be more eco friendly, they no longer provide a plastic bag and suggest you just combine the chicken and seasoning in a bowl. Maybe they should consider a name change. The worst part, it tastes nothing like I remember. I thought the name thing is just funny.

Is there anything that tastes like it did in the old days???
Was talking to my sister last week about something similar. I mentioned how Many times I have tried to make my Mom's Noodle and Potato salads and everytime it never tastes the same. I use the same ingredients or at least I think so and that is why I asked my sister. But just not the same. Then we started reminiscing about all the dinners Mom made and even my Dad's cole slaw and his pickles and green tomatoes. Just miss those dinners. How Mom use to have us kids mash potatoes with the old mashers. She use to make perogies and how we use to fill them and how she taught us to pinch the ends and so on. So many good memories. Mom and Dad always said you are going to eat it so pitch in and help. Do not get me started on the Christmas cakes and cookies. Nothing like dinners with the family back in the days. So much has changed over the years and most not for the better.

Many moons ago wife's daughter in law dropped by with two grand-daughters ages 4 and 6. Wife was making cookies and kids wanted to help. They did! Good times, but took 4 days to clean up kitchen!

My MIL made excellent potato salad. She made a batch for a Sunday School class get-together. One asked for the recipe. She carefully measured all the ingredients. Said it was the worst she had ever made. My wife might follow a first time use for a recipe. After that, it's modify the recipe.
