Hello all,
I hope this is the right place to ask this.
I attached the clip to the wrong side of a streamline pen. I tried to tap it out with a screw driver etc with no luck. It's in there tight.
Any suggestions on how to remove it, or just write it off as the price of not staying focused?
Thanks for any input.

The Streamline kits I have use a 7mm tube, so a 15/64" punch (or in a pinch a piece of 1/4" threaded rod / ready bolt) should work nicely as a removal punch. You will have to grip the piece tightly by putting it inside a piece of tubing or by wrapping it up with a bunch of layers of tape and holding it in a vise or vise-grip type pliers and then tapping on the punch with a hammer to knock it out.

These are the pen disassembly tools that I use:

Soft Jaw Barrel Gripper
Pen Disassembly Punch Set

Dave

PS You shouldn't even need to press the cap all the way out -- just enough to loosen the clip so you can re-position it and then press the cap back in to re-seat it.

Get a punch kit from Harbor Freight. They are a shop must have.

Thanks all. Got it! Found a bolt that fit perfectly. Used the suggested rubber jar lid opener to protect the barrel. Put it in the vice and two taps later it was free! Gotta love groups like this.

ALL good ideas.. I'll add, many gentle taps work better and you only need a small hammer (12oz). Position the clip so it has a soft landing zone. I would NOT grip the blank with pliers but grip it in your hand with some kind of rubber material. DAMHIKT!

PS. You may have to glue in the fitting on that end of the blank as it *MAY* be too loose. If so use Blue loctite; put a drop on the INSIDE of the tube before pressing the fitting, never on the fitting as the loctite will just smoosh out onto the blank and make a mess. Leave it to cure in the open air for a day or two.

PPS. Some cap fittings have more than one piece. If the separate pieces come apart just press them back together. You may have to make a press block with a hole in it to press the ieces back together.
