Do you have a 'Harbor Freight' or other https://www.harborfreight.com/28-piece-transfer-punch-set-3577.html?
Just take the dimension you need to a grinder and make a flat side. Use an appropriate nail for the insert. With the transfer set you have all the possible dimensions you need - and a very usable transfer set.

Rick; I believe there are several articles in the Library "Pin Chuck" is the thing to search for.
I've made these with a mandrel rod and a flat file. Use the file on edge and file a 1/2" flat the depth of your pin. The closer you get to the dimension of the pin the better.

I use the HF punch set and slip a rubber O ring in the flat. cut the O ring, cut it long and slip it in. I bought a box full of O rings all thickness available for what we use.
