I was after a particular retro vibe with this pen. It is made from Italian acrylic and thuya burl.

Nothing too complicated, other than the section is made from acrylic with a wooden sleeve. The main consideration being wall thicknesses of the wood (it's a no6 Jowo nib and 13mm cap threads). The wood is stabilised so it does help with the integrity of the piece a little too.

Getting the silver/red logo coin to fit snugly also takes a little bit of time to get right. The trick here is to drill an undersized hole and bore out the remainder to sneak up in the correct diameter.

Length closed: 140mm
Open: 134mm (cap doesn't post)
Nib: Jowo 6
Cap threads: 13mm
Barrel diameter: 14.5mm

Cheers
Ash

Looks really, really good. I'm partial to combinations like this.
Did you make the cap decoration?

Ash fantastic pen I'm in amazement of your talent. I'm just making a Kirrnite Turquoise fountain pen but I've just chipped the cap thread and now my blank is to short and Last week I made a cap to thin and it snapped at the same place so I'm going to combine the too materials so to save some of my time and four blanks but it will look a bit like this one.

what I'm trying to say is it ok to copy your colour combination (it will be very close to yours only my wood is lighter)

😁😁

I don't understand your post @Kcimdrib. I'm new to posting on forums and don't understand what it means when someone just posts a quote does it mean you disagree with my OP ??

I have see this done many time on a post or two

@Tinyjames
When I see this happen, I just assume it is a mistake. . Or alternatively, it could mean they agree with you and hit "Reply" instead of "Like".
I have seen this happen somewhat often recently ... mainly on the part of people who, I think, are new members getting used to the forum.

I assume you can reply if you want to make a comment, but if you just like something but don't want to type a reply just give it thumbs up with like.
This maybe a wrong assumption because I am a relatively new member.
Maybe made a mistake if so I apologize.
I have looked and yes I think I put the like in the wrong place I was trying to like the pens. But put it after your comments.
Simple mistake made by a simple guy.

Thank you.
The cap decoration is cast in sterling silver and filled with resin, although I sometimes leave it just silver.

Very nice pen. What is that blue Italian acrylic blank called, if you don't mind sharing?
Thank you.
The blank is from Beaufort Ink here until he UK and it's called Sage. It's part of their Italian acrylic range.
