I bought some Le Roi Royale kits but now I can't find the right bushings. I need the D36 bushings. Hopefully, I can trade for them.
There is reference on the Exotics website listing for this pen kit to the Polaris pen kit, which is a PSI kit.
According to the IAP Bushing & Tubes app, the Polaris twist BP dimensions are: cap bushing - .495 & nib - .450. The diagram for the le Roi Elegant Royale in the instructions in the IAP app actually shows a Polaris kit (Diagram A - Pen Parts). The bushing diagram (Diagram F - Bushing Set) while not showing dimensions does show that the nib (tip) is a smaller bushing which jibes with the Polaris specs.
Why do you have 2? should they not be the same?My old Smitty's instructions say drill size is: "Letter U Drill Bit or 3/8" Drill Bit (tube will be a loose fit if 3/8" is used)"
I measured the bushings as follows:
Bushing 1 A .472 B .339
Bushing 2 A .452 B .339
I spoke with him for 20 mins early this evening. He suggests attempting to make them. Not sure I could do that. But. I am working towards a solution.I mentioned the Polaris, not because I know much about it, but only because it is mentioned on the ExoticBlanks listing for the Le Roi Royale.
I thought the reference to the Polaris might have held a clue to bushings for the Le Roi Royale but that might not be the case.
Now I realize that the Polaris and Le Roi Royale do not look much alike when finished.
For what it's worth, here is the link to what I read ... https://www.exoticblanks.com/le-roi-royale-pen-kit-rhodium.html
I think it is best to consult with Ed Brown at Exotics.
I thought it would be something close to those measurements. My old Smitty's instructions say drill size is: "Letter U Drill Bit or 3/8" Drill Bit (tube will be a loose fit if 3/8" is used)"
I measured the bushings as follows:
Bushing 1 A .472 B .339
Bushing 2 A .452 B .339
@walshjp17According to the description of the pen on Exotics website, the Le Roi Royale is a version on the Polaris. "THIS IS A SMITTY'S PEN WORKS EXCLUSIVE REVISION OF THE POPULAR POLARIS STYLE. THE POLARIS STYLE TIP AND LONGER THE BARREL LETS YOU SHOW OFF MORE OF THE WOOD OR OTHER BLANK MATERIAL."
Do you have sierra bushings and do they fit in the tubes you have?? If that is the case then just use those to get you close and use calipers to take it home. Really is not difficult. You have to learn to adapt doing this stuff. If not it will eat you alive. Not everything and every kit will go together easily. You need to be able to tweak things. Nature of the beast. As mentioned you can make cone shaped bushings from any hard material and just turn between centers. Many threads on this here.Okay, this has become a small nightmare. First, I really do not what it takes to make a pair of bushings. I don't have the talent nor the tools. Almost everything I have tried has not come close. I do have one last idea . . . I might not be able to make them But I am a macgyver! If this doesn't work, they are going into the Conn River!
lol
Thank you for your confidence, but I have just the tools to turn pens. BUT calipers are not in my toolbox yet.Do you have sierra bushings and do they fit in the tubes you have?? In red, not true. You have both if you are turning pens. Does not take special tools. If you can turn an object round then you have the talent.
That's good newsWe will be receiving bushings for this pen by the 15th of December--along with several others we have been out of stock on.
Hey, Ed any luck as of yet? I did not see them on the site.We will be receiving bushings for this pen by the 15th of December--along with several others we have been out of stock on.
