This pen actually went according to plan! I had some scrap spectraply cut a strange angle. This is what I came up with to use it.

Awesome wouldn't describe it. I save all kinds of pieces of scrap. I have several thin strips of red oak from trimming stair treads. They are about 1/8 inch thick. Going to cut them into squares, glue up and turn.

Thanks! The red oak scrap project sounds great. Excited to see a picture.

This is a sure fire way to duplicate some of the segmented pens you see here without all the fancy and expensive saws and sanders. There are many designs you can do using that wood. They have been for the most part that I have see to be accurately cut and stacked. Nice job with the look and design. Well done and thanks for showing.

Excellent pen Angela. It worked out extremely well, and yes, there are many ways you can use spectraply for segmenting. I love their color schemes, and the fact that you can buy pens blanks as well as larger bricks and cut to whatever size you want is a real advantage.

I won't hijack your thread with pictures, but here is another easy Spectraply segmenting that you may want to explore: Spectraply Cross Blank.

Thanks! That pen is beautiful. I am still working on getting precision cuts, so the spectraply is an awesome way to get more fine details.

I have made my own "bricks," but recently have been very impressed with the alignment you can get with the spectraply. And the color schemes are much more vibrant than what I can make myself. Have fun exploring more - this pen is a great platform to expand from. Well done.
