Would feed-n-wax be a good final coat?

I'm using shellac to coat my pen. I was wondering if after I'm done coating, would it be good to add a coat of feed-n-wax over my pen? Also, would it take away my shine or will it buff to a nice shine. Never used it before.

Feed n' wax is a fine quick finish for raw wood. And it was designed as a maintenance finish for furniture. But I wouldn't recommend it for items that are handled constantly, like pens.

I was looking at it more as a coat to help protect the shellac. No?
 
The two waxes I've used over a finish are Johnsons Paste Wax and Renaissance Wax. The latter is a museum - quality wax and is highly recommended, even though it is a little pricey.
 
You are not going to get shellac to polish out to a high shine if that is what you are thinking. Use poly or lacquer next time if you do not want a CA finish. These are film finishes.

I will order me some renaissance for future use. Right now I'm just finishing my second pen for my wife and was wondering about a protectant coat over the shellac before I give it to her. Lol It looks nice with just the shellac, just wondering if the beeswax would just help it any. If not, no biggie. Lol

Beeswax is a very soft wax. It won't provide significant protection.
 
Thats all I was needing to know y'all. Appreciate the feedback. The shellac actually has a nice shine to it. Of course, I put 7 thin coats on it. Lol I have some wipeon poly that I use for my other turnings. I was actually thinking of trying it on my next pen. Btw, I think the CA finishes look great, but I tend to like the natural wood look myself. I may try a ca finish one day just to see if I can do one without messing it up. Lol

I actually have some WTF coming in. I read here that its good also. The shellac actually looks good to me. Its not an overbearing shine and still keeps a nice looking wood finish. I did this with purpleheart wood.

Shellac will darken from the moisture and oils left behind on the pen from handling and using. Most friction polishes are shellac based. Nice shine at the start but not so much later. Shellac or friction polishes are good for items that are not handled often. Just my thoughts...and others.
