OK, I have processed 34 blanks that I stabilized and dyed blue (mildly), they are from one of my wood species in my timber list but, this time, I don't want you to guess what they are, not at this point, anyway.

What I'm offering is the possibility to participate in this "deal", which is composed of the following conditions;

*- You pay AU$10.00 shipping and I will send you a pack of 4 blanks, 2 of them are these new blanks that I made (pics attached) and the other 2 are random from my selection of raw blanks...!

*- When you receive your package, you will select one of those 2 new blanks and you make a pen, any style, kit or plating you wish, your choice, as is the finish type...!

*- You will have to have that pen made and shown on this thread, within 6 (six) weeks from the date I SENT YOU the blanks. Most locations have constantly had these size parcels delivered within 7 to 12 days from the shipping date so, allowing about 2 weeks for transport, you have 4 weeks to have the pen made and shown in here...!

After the pens are made in shown in here, I will select 2 other IAP members to assist me with the judging of the best pen, the winner will receive a voucher of the value of $50.00, to be used in my private web-store. It will be requested also to the participants that, they provide their best guess to what the wood species in those 2 blanks, is. The winner will receive also a AU$50.00 voucher from me to be used on the web-store.

There is a possibility that, the same person wins both vouchers, if that becomes the case, I have absolutely no problem with that...!

The pens made, are your property and therefore, you decided what you want to do with it, keep, sell, gift it, your call...!

So, for an investment of AU$10.00, you will receive 4 blanks with a total value of AU$14.00, you will have 1 chance at the 2 x $50.00 vouchers and you are to keep/sell the pen you made, after the pics are taken. (I suggest that you keep the pen until this "deal" is all over and dusted, please...!)

I need 8 (eight) participants, please...!

If you are interested, simply put your name down in here, and Paypal the AU$10.00 to nyodine@yahoo.com.au, this will guarantee your place in this "deal".

As soon as your Paypal comes through, I will add an (OK) in front of your name in the list here, that will also mean that, your parcel has been sent...!

There is no restrictions to who can participate, from new to old members, all are equally welcome however, you have to be in the position to make the pen yourself and post it here, within the 4 weeks after receiving the blanks.

As for the number of pics allowed for each participant/pen, I will allow a maximum of 4 (four) pictures...!:)

Well, I suppose this is all for now, I will leave you with 5 pics, one of the group of these new 32 blanks (I will make many more, later...!) and 4 of the random blank from this batch I used to make into a sample...!

Enjoy the opportunity, and lets have some fun...!

Please, get your names down here, only 8 members will be accepted...! I lied didn't I...!:)

Best of luck.

Cheers
George

I will add my name even though I'm #9. That way if anyone drops out due to any unforeseen circumstances before you send out blanks, then maybe I'm in. Slim chance but that's life.

"Deal" update...!

Well folks, I didn't realise that, so many of you want to participate on this, I don't have any particular reason why I had a limit of 8 members as participants, I have plenty of blanks to play with so, increasing the number of participants will, reduce slightly the % chances for the first 8 to win the vouchers however, I shouldn't make that a big deal to the "deal" purpose so, I have no problem to allow more participants into this, I prefer to know that most or all, if possible, that want to participate and play, are accommodate...!

Note: The final number of participants, will not alter any of the conditions referred on the OP...!:)

Please, look at this OP (Opening Post) to check the current participants list...!

Anyone else that are interested, will have until the end of today to put their name down, I would prefer to keep is not exceeding 16 participants, which is double to what I anticipated yesterday so, be quick...!

If all this works OK and the reaction of the majority of the participants is positive, I will consider do a few more of these in the near future...!

Just a quick update and an apology...!

First the apology, and this is in regards to the mention that I made on the OP that, when I would put the (OK) in front of the names of those that have paid, that would also mean that, the blanks have been posted when in reality, I shouldn't said that as today was Friday, the last day of the week for any Post Office dealings, they close on the weekends and re-open on Mondays so, even being known to be fast shipping stuff, was just not enough time for me to get all these orders out or even put them together, I didn't realise that was already Friday, again...!

Anyway, I will get them all done in the weekend and have Merissa posting them all (16) on Monday morning

The other update is in regards the number of participants possible, has been no further requests for participation and I believe, possible interested folks have probably looked at the pic and the number of blanks I mention I made of 32 so, it became obvious that, 16 participants was all I could have, and use all the blanks I made, apart from the sample one...!

And if, was just a fluke that all those interested had put their hands up and that, the number (participants) happens to match the number of available blanks, that seems a fluke to me...!:biggrin:

Anyway, get your tools sharpen, not that these are hard to cut or work with, not at all, is just a matter of speech...!

That's all for now...!

Cheers
George

SHYT ..........Just a day late.

Good luck everyone.

Yes, you are, sorry but the truth is that, I used all the blanks I had...!

However, there will be other opportunities for you to participate, in the near future. I like to believe, I will be able to do a few more of these "deals", they require some time to completely run its course but, not excessively so keep in touch, I'm sure you will not miss, the next one...!

Thank you for your interest...!

Yes, you are most correct, and I will allow a max. of 4 pics per participant...!

However, the due date is the 15 December 2014, I would have no problem in sorting the winners, before that time if, all 16 pens are made and pics shown in here, the sooner the better, before everyone gets too busy with Christmas celebration preparations...!:biggrin:

George, got the blanks today.....that was fast!

Just to be clear we are to post up to 4 pics of the pen we make in this thread. As for the guesses of the timber....we are to guess what the timber is you sent us to be included in the contest not the extra 2 blanks? And do we message you the guess or post with our pen?

This is going to be fun, thanks again for including me.

Ok, lets make it a little more clear, there are 4 blanks on each package, the 2 x #8 Curly Gum, either St or Z are a gift, the other 2 are the stabilized blue blanks to be used in this contest.

You only need 1 (one)of those blanks, as you only need to make 1 pen, (any kind), the other is a spare, just in case...!

After you have the pen done, you post it here, and up to a max. of 4 images, you can then, provide also your guess on what the wood species is, all in the same post.

All pens (pics) have to be in by the 15 December 2014, and on the 16/12/2014 a panel of 3 judges will score each pen from 1 to 10 points, the one with the highest score, wins a AU$50.00 voucher from my web-store. Any possible ties will be re-score again...!

Now, and as for the correct name of the wood on those 2 blanks used for this contest, the first person that gives me the correct name, will win the second AU$50.00 voucher. Remember, there will be only 1 (one) voucher for the correct wood species name, in between the 16 contestants so, first come, first served on this one.

Posting first, doesn't win you anything, unless you have the correct wood name so, there is an advantage in getting it posted soon, rather than later, for this same reason...!

I hope, all is clarified now...!

Good luck.

Cheers

I got my blanks today also! Beautiful woods!

C'mon Kelly,

You have George's wood in hand and no answer to the type of wood he is sending us all yet??? I thought you would be the first to ID it when the packages arrived.

Being in Canada means it will likely be another week before mine comes.

And you are absolutely correct, you are only to reveal the wood species name/what you think it is, in the very same post as the one where you enter your pen pictures, and not before...!

Good luck...!

PS: Regardless of how early (before the 15/12), you post your pen pics and your wood name guess, I will not confirm or deny any wood names, until the day after closing time (16/12/2014).

Cheers

Hi Bruce,

I hope that won't take an extra week however, it needs to be said, Australia Post is doing a great job at getting these, economic option parcels, out of the country and on they way to its destiny, in record time, the sort of timing that I was getting/and still am, from the most expensive shipping option, the Express Post International (one week), these 16 parcels were all posted in the same day and at the same time (3/11/2014), at lunch time, one week and one day later, most USA recipients have already received it so, I think that, the normal 2 weeks expected time, is improving to most countries so, it will be good to know when you get your, Bruce....! let us know, please.

I think that were 2 parcels to Canada...!

One S -- sometimes words ending with an S come out as kinda a whistle, even when I write them.
