Has anyone tried powdercoating wood??? If so do you have photos of examples and could you decribe the ins and outs and the do's and don'ts. Thanks.

I don't know much about powder coating, but doesn't it require an electrical current... wood doesn't carry a current does it?

I have my own powder coating setup, entry level from Eastwood. I have coated hundreds of metal things, in many colors including clear, gold, red, black, maroon...
For metal coating you need 300-350 degrees. I have heard about powders that can be used on woods, obviously need to be cooked at lower temps.

I too powdercoat metals but was interested if the new technology can be used in our little part of the industry. Wood has to have a very low moisture content and that is why MDF is used alot but for as small a piece of timber we use why could we not use this technology??? I am not sure what equipment is needed or maybe we can get away with the same guns and just use the powders that are made for wood. Not sure about wood reactions such as wood movement. Was hoping someone out there has tried this and could enlighten us. Just food for thought.

I am curious too. I certainly know the advantages on metal. Lower porosity, leads to greater finish durability.
There certainly seems to be no shortage of articles on the web about industrial applications. I guess the first thing would be to find where to get the low temperature powders. The second question, is does one need higher current guns?
Eagerly anticipating someone to try it!

Make them out of metal
You could machine them out of metal instead of using wood then powder coat them. you would have to figure out the thickness so it can be assembled.
