I was just browsing through the forum and ran across the thread about superstitious people which reminded me to ask if anyone has ever heard of this hotel that we are staying, The Sheraton Gunter, is haunted? Just spent the last ten minutes trying to figure out where this mysterious object came from that fell from the ceiling onto my wife's head as she was blow drying her hair.

That is kind of like saying that you are not going to OKC because you heard it was raining in Tulsa.

Let me clarify. I heard on the news that San Antonio (the place I am headed) was being pounded with rain and some flooding

What flooding? the news like to over tell things to make their stories sell. I wished we had some flooding to get us out of the stage 2 water conservation. We don't get those kind of stuff around here. Come on down and bring your pocket book since our local businesses like you to spend your money in their stores while you having lots of fun. WE just got little lucky this week to get somerainto wash the junk out of the air and clean it out. If you were here around end of June you would have wanted to stay indoors since we had abundant of heat wave.I am headed that way (San Antonio) from Oklahoma for a little R&R with the family. I will be down there in a weeks time but I was a little concerned about all the rain I see on the news. Is there much flooding? The wife and kids also want to head over to the water park in New Braunfels, but I'm not sure thats feasible if they have flooding. I know Houston got hammered, right?
John
No, you just have to live here longer and get used to going to the Fiestas year after year and sit in the back yard making BBQ's and pay your taxes on time.So is there like a rule on how many times you must visit the alamo to be a Texan?
thats not true some parts of town have had a little flooding on roads and stuff.John Pratt said:Wow! that was harsh.

Actually, John, we have had sporadic rain this afternoon, but nothing that could even come remotely close to flooding

true but i was talking about parts of roads that had to be pumped out becouse they were several feet deap.Luke I suppose it depends on what you call flooding, lol. As little rain as we get up in wichita falls, even just a drop would be a flood!

For the record, the only visit to the Alamo that ever resulted in one becoming a Texan happened during that battle.:wink:So is there like a rule on how many times you must visit the alamo to be a Texan?
We plan to stay right downtown at the Hyatt Regency Riverwalk a block from the Alamo.
Any thoughts about other things to see within walking distance of the Alamo? We will spend some time walking the riverwalk and of course market square. I would rather park the car and walk if possible especially if the weather is nice.
You must not be from here, son. You haven't seen a real flooding it happened when you were very young ask your parents about Almos dam spilling over few years back that's was flooding. Not the few feet water on the road, plus In san Antonio, our drivers don't know what to do when it rains that's why they call it flooding.true but i was talking about parts of roads that had to be pumped out becouse they were several feet deap.Luke I suppose it depends on what you call flooding, lol.
