I realize that this is no big deal to the machinists on here and it's a long way from what the "Rat" can do, but for me, it's the beginning of lots of metal shavings.
The pic is a bit crappy, but this is a steel rod that I reduced the diameter, cut a shoulder, faced, and cut a taper. It is a pretty smooth finish, even though the pic doesn't show it. The pic does show a reflection of the stuff on my truck though.
I used a bit that I ground at work today, my first time.
Over all, I'm pleased.
