I thought I would share this with you all. It is something my dad made. He has been a carpenter since he was about 16. I am always amazed at his work. The below quoted text is an email from him describing it.
"I just got this email today from one of the architects where I worked showing the walnut slab table I made after the finish was applied and it was delivered to the clients house. It is 2" thick, 9'10" long and about 5' wide at its widest point. I had to stabilize the crotch with 3 walnut keys (the hour glass shapes in the table) mortise and epoxy into place .After I did much sanding, the painting contractor applied multiple coats of tung oil to complete the table. Oh yeah, its really heavy."
