steady rest

I finished this this afternoon, needing one to make a cane for a friend, by request. The 7 layer birch ply was 20"x20" birch flooring that was left over from a remodeling job done at my place of employment. I have about 30 squares stacked up just waiting for jigs like this. Too bad they over ordered the material, what a waste!

That looks good Glenn. Making a steady rest is one of the things on my "to do" list. What is the minimum diameter the wheels will close to? I guess it is a function of the size of the Rollerblade wheels. I think the ones I have are 72mm.

It's a bit pricy at $128 Can. Looks like yours would work just as well, for considerably less cost...

I'll say, since I had the wood, it cost me $16.00 for the wheels and bushings and about $2.00 for the bolts I didnt have. So I'd say $20.00 is much better than $130.00.
