Tomorrow, I have to say goodbye to an old friend. Bertha & I go way back.
Back to 1997, in fact. She has gotten too hard to find parts for, and she's too expensive for me anymore.
Bertha is my 1991 Geo Prism. Basically, a re-badged Toyota Corolla.
My brother bought her brand new, and gave it to me in 1997.
I've kept her going for about 20 years, but it's time to let go now.
I am donating her to a place that helps people with disabilities.
They are going to auction her off for whatever they can get.
I get a tax deduction, and she gets towed away for free.
I'll miss the old girl. She got me thru some bad winter storms when I needed her the most. She took me to Canada twice. But, her a/c quit on me this year & I don't have the funds to get her fixed.
Besides, it's costing me more in insurance than the car is worth.
It has been a great car though. I had lots of fun times driving it around.
A moment of silence for Bertha, please.
