Went to an open-shop at a friends place and tried something new for me. I rarely turn end-grain or natural edge, and this combines both elements. Unfinished, fresh off the lathe. Have to let it dry a while then decide how to finish it. Around 8" (20 cm) across. Wood came from a tree that's falling down in a friends yard. This was a challenge to the group by Jerry Sambrook to get us all to try something new.

I hope it survives the drying, looks like you've got the pith in there still. If it does it sure will be interesting!

Good luck!

Thanks all,

Part of the tree fell down, the main trunk is rotten, and big sections just fall off every so often

There is indeed pith somewhat offset through the center of the bowl and it will crack, but hoping the rest holds up.

No stickiness, but it is damp
